  • A new paint brush will last longer and be much easier to clean if it soaks in a can of linseed oil for 12 hours before it is ever used.
  • To soften hard paint on brushes, soak in hot vinegar. Follow with a wash in warm, sudsy water.
  • After washing brushes and rollers, use a fabric softener in the final rinse water. It helps them stay soft and pliable.
  • Use a coffee can when cleaning paint brushes with paint thinner. After the brushes have been cleaned, cover th can and let stand for a few days. The paint will settle to the bottom and you can pour the clean thinner into a can and re-use.
