  • For an extremely stained tub, use a mixture of peroxide and cream of tartar. Make a paste and scrub vigorously with a small brush. Rinse thoroughly.
  • If stains persist, spread the above mixture over stains and apply a drop of household ammonia . Allow to set for two hours before scrubbing.
  • Very old porcelain stains: Shave a bar of naphtha soap into a bucket of hot water and add 1/2 cup of mineral spirits. Stir to dissolve the soap, then brush on stain.
